Cycling from Freiburg to Dijon:

This is a tour request we got from Theresa and Jonas from Mannheim. They wanted to do a rolling bike trip from Freiburg into Burgundy with their gravel bikes. They were so kind to allow us to use their tour as an example how a Rogonneur Tailor-Made Tour Plan looks like.

Travel Logistics:

Mannheim – Freiburg:

  • Train from Mannheim to Freiburg. There a plenty direct fast train (ICE) options available. Most of them allow to take an unpacked bike with you. You need to purchase an additional ticket per bike. There are not many bike “seats” available, therefore, be sure to book your bike spot early, especially on weekends in spring/summer season and on holidays. However, you can also pack you bike in bag and take is as a carry-on as luggage. There are multiple bike bags out there. We recommend the Fairmean bike. It is the lightest and compactest option on the market. Approx. travel time: 1h30min.

Dijon – Mannheim:

  • Fast train from Dijon to Mannheim. There is no direct train between these cities. Suggested route goes through Basel or Strasbourg. Only on a few selected TGV routes, it is possible to take the bike on the train. This is not one of them. You still are allowed to take the bike with you, if you pack it into a bag and take is as a carry-on as luggage. There are multiple bike bags out there. We recommend the Fairmean bike. It is the lightest and compactest option on the market. Approx. travel time: 4h30.
