Golden Week Cycling

As I embark on my cycling journey through Japan, I’m filled with excitement and anticipation for the adventures that lie ahead. Leaving Atami, a charming coastal town known for its hot springs and stunning views of Sagami Bay, I pedal along the scenic route towards Shimoda. The road winds through lush greenery, with glimpses of the azure ocean peeking through the trees.

Along the way, I make a pit stop at the historic Ryugu Castle, perched majestically atop a cliff overlooking the sea. Legend has it that this castle was once inhabited by mythical sea creatures. Today, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the coastline, making it a must-visit for any cyclist passing through the area.

Continuing my journey, I pass through the picturesque town of Irozaki, famous for its rugged coastline and dramatic cliffs. As I pedal along the winding roads, the salty sea breeze invigorates my senses, and I can’t help but marvel at the natural beauty surrounding me.

Continuing onwards, I pass by the stunning Suruga Bay, where the snow-capped peak of Mount Fuji looms majestically in the distance. This iconic symbol of Japan never fails to inspire awe, and I pause for a moment to take in its breathtaking beauty before resuming my journey towards Numazu.

Along the way, I pass through the charming town of Gotemba, famous for its premium outlet malls and stunning views of Mount Fuji. The majestic peak dominates the horizon, its snow-capped summit towering over the surrounding countryside, creating a postcard-worthy scene that never fails to impress.

Continuing on my journey, I make a detour to visit the serene shores of Lake Kawaguchi, one of the Fuji Five Lakes. The crystal-clear waters mirror the snow-capped peak of Mount Fuji, creating a mesmerizing reflection that captures the essence of Japan’s natural beauty. I take a moment to soak in the tranquility of the lake, surrounded by the majestic scenery that has inspired poets and artists for centuries.
