Leaving Berlin’s urban buzz behind, my journey to Fürstenwalde/Spree unfolded with surprises at every turn. Passing through Erkner, a picturesque village nestled by the Dahme River, I marveled at its tranquil beauty. As I pedaled on, the landscape transformed into lush meadows and dense forests, culminating in the medieval charm of Fürstenwalde/Spree. Here, the towering spire of St. Mary’s Church welcomed me, a beacon of history in the heart of the town.

Continuing my cycling odyssey, I traversed the rolling hills of Brandenburg, encountering poignant reminders of Germany’s past at the Berlin Wall memorials. Crossing into Poland, the scenery shifted to verdant forests and serene lakes. In Międzyrzecz, the Międzyrzecki Rejon Umocniony revealed Poland’s wartime legacy through its vast fortifications. Emerging from the bunkers, the beauty of Lake Międzyrzecz provided solace amidst the echoes of history.

The final leg of my journey led me through charming villages and rustic landscapes to Skwierzyna, adorned with ornate churches and a vibrant cultural scene.

I actually wanted to cycle to Poznan and take the train back to Berlin from there. Sadly, my navigation constantly sent me on roads that I wasn’t able to ride on. (Deep sand!!!)

I highly recommend to check the surface. This day is not really recommended to do!

Due to the delays, I was scared to miss my train and cut the day short and hopped on the train to Berlin in Zbąszynek.
